Blue Tooth Support

I recently bought a 2010 Malibu and it comes with all the 'cosmetics' of having bluetooth support (such as the phone call/answer button on the steering wheel and such) but it doesn't actually work because the car didn't come with OnStar, and apparently that's the only way the bluetooth was meant to be set up. Needless to say the car salesmen didn't tell me any of this during the buy, only two weeks later when I came back to check on it. I should have been more aggressive, so fault is on both ends, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to activate it using any other means.

I know I could just buy a visor bluetooth set but it'd just be more convenient if the car worked. I figure the steering wheels are all standard and only the higher end Malibus have Onstar so the bluetooth only works as a mute button, but if anyone knows of a workaround or how to 'flip the switch' and make it work that'd be awesome. Thanks.
