There are all sorts of DVD Players and I'm wondering what kind of DVD Player would be able to play .avi format movies.
Have loads of DVDs with 6-7 .avi movies (downloaded from net) in each of them and wondering if I can watch that on TV DVD player.
Thanks

No, they don't. In fact, very, very few do...

They will have the Divx logo on them if they do.

Thats not really true, I burn my movies with Nero and almost always they're in .avi format. They always worked in all of my 3 DVD players. Its just u need to set up your settings right. Try Burning it with Nero Vision 4, it should come along with the nero install.

Nero converts the files to the correct format to play them...

When they are played by your DVD player they are no longer .avi files.

If you have a divx dvd player you can burn a data dvd with 4 or 5 movies on one dvd and it will play fine.

my dvd player plays avi no problem... i was shocked to find that out when i tried superbad on it
