How can I hear sound from my video cam when connected to my computer

I bought a video and audio convert cable to be able to get video from my video cam and put it in my computer.

I want to burn and make dvd's.

For some reason the audio does not work.

Please Help.

Perhaps audio drivers need to be installed /reinstalled or check your system sound settings for anything that might be muted - sounds dumb, but I've seen it many times. You might need to provide some more info like exactly what kind of converter is it etc.
