usb 2.0 keeps restarting my comp

hi i got a usb 2 card and now the devices that i plug into it (external hard drive and digital camera) keep restarting the comp when i fiddle with them. this doesn't happen when i plug them into the usb 1 ports though. this is quite annoying since my comp takes like 10 minutes to start. i think there's like a conflict... anyone knows how to fix this? thanks.

oh and i'm using window xp professional and a duron processor.

I'm presuming you have installed a PCI usb card, right? YOu need to have service pack 2 installed on your puter to run usb 2.0. Sounds to me like you need to upgrade windows to SP2 as the card is causing a fatal error and system reboot becasue of a driver conflict.

thx for the help, but i already have SP2 install. the reset happens about 50% of the time though.

And yes it's a PCI card that I installed.

You are having driver conflicts with that card. Try and install it in another PCI slot and see what happens.
