Whats up with my fan?

Hey guys,

I just got a new heatsink, the p4 spark 7 xaser edtion heatsink with fan, and it isnt helping at all. It says up to 6000 rpm. Yea right dude. Its only running 3000 rpm idle. And idle temp is 68 degress celcius. I put the jumper in and everything. And still no go. My intel stock fan did a better job. What should I do?

screw this, i put in unreal tournament 2004 and just at the menu for it it went up to 85 degrees celcius. Putting the stock fan back in.

Have you applied a proper amount of thermal grease? Also, is the heatsink connected properly, and is your power supply powerful enough to rotate your fan at 6000RPM?

algu7344, that heatsink you got is not very good. Here is the heatsink and CPU fan i suggest.

That first CPU fan is extreme! It is not silent at all, but its the best one on the market. If your serious about low temps, then go for it. I have one for my CPU : )
