Sanding the CPU? What?

And this is about where I draw the line I love tweaking my hardware and maxing out Clock speeds but Lapping is just over the edge for me, maybe if I buy some cheap pwn box ill give it a try
 
I lapped my e6300 and got a few C drop. Left my e6400 alone though as it's not a very good clocker at all and lapping would be pointless.
 
I'm a total beginner. I lapped my QX6850 and a Thermalright Ultra 90i. It lowered my idle temps about 8C-9C from a nonlapped QX6850 with TRUE 120. It's not that hard, but you should find a good guide online and TAKE YOUR TIME. It can take a couple of hours.

people are so scared of doing this, I don't know why. Intel cpus don't have any pins on the bottom to bend or break so the process is really foolproof.
 
I can see why its scary. A little puddle on sandpaper.. Dropping a tiny $300++ processor into it and grinding away XD

It just sounds scary ><
