i thought 2 ultra's couldnt max it out and it was "past todays hardware"

The game it is "past todays hardware" the only way you can get around 40 FPS with one single card with everything on High Setting is if you are playing at 1280 x 1024 with 0xAA & 0xAF.

no joke i play with no aa and no af on 1440x900 w/ my 2900pro overclocked to 820/2000 and get prolly 30fps average if not less
