For 2500 CAD

is this a good deal, i want to know if this will play games good, and how good. also if i should change some things that will barley decrease game performance but drop the price. all help appreciated.

you can do a lot better. 1000w PSU is way too much, i have a similar build to yours, here are some better components.

CORSAIR 620HX PSU- NCIX.com - Buy Corsair CMPSU-620HX 620W ATX Triple 12V 50A 24PIN ATX Modular Power Supply 120MM Fan 2X PCI-E - CMPSU-620HX In Canada. EVGA 8800GT super clocked, is better/cheaper then the 2900XT NCIX.com - Buy EVGA E-GEFORCE 8800GT Superclocked 650MHZ 512MB DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDTV Out DIRECTX10 Video Card - 512-P3-N802-A1 In Canada. or for 20$ more the SSC edition NCIX.com - Buy EVGA E-GEFORCE 8800GT 512MB Ssc Edition 512MB DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDTV Out DIRECTX10 Video Card - 512-P3-N806-A1 In Canada.
Go with crucial Ballistix over OCZ, especially platinum edition, those are horrible NCIX.com - Buy Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit - BL2KIT12864AA804 In Canada.
The P5K is a good motherboard and was my second choice, but i ended up going with a maximus formula instead. You could shop around to see if you can find better deals on those, but i like NCIX since they are on the west coast as i am, so i dont need to wait as long for shipping.

What case are you planning on getting BTW?

Firstly get a Q6600 instead, its half the price for a few mhz less and you could easily overclock it past 3Ghz anyway.

As prophey mentioned 1000w is overkill, get a corsair or look at some PC Power & Cooling power supplies if you want to spend more.

With the extra cash from the cpu and memory you could look at an 8800ultra - its the best atm, although it doesnt come close to the 8800GT as far as price/performance goes.

oops, eyes are playing tricks on me, thought he was getting a Q6600:s

Meat is right, get a Q6600, half the price, roughly the same performance. Only thing with the 8800ultra is that its an *old* card now. I would recomend sticking with the GT because its half the price and hold out till the 9800 series. Doesnt make sense to me to spend 600$ on a card that will be half the price in a few months with the release of the 9 series cards.

yes, q6700= is far waste it does have a unlocked multiplier but it doesnt sound like ull be caring much about that. q6600 is much better choice.

1000w is way too much the corsair 620HX is a great choice for ur system at a far less cost.

8800gt is good

get a abit IP-35 instead of a p5k they are better boards for overclocking if ur interested.

q6700 doesn't have an unlocked multiplier.... thats qx6700... and both exist:

Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 Kentsfield 2.66GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail
Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 Kentsfield 2.66GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail see?

but I agree... since you can get a q6600 for $266, its way better to overclock it 266mhz

k how about this

1 x PC ASSEMBLY AND TESTING (PRE-CONFIG OS IF PURCHASED)
1 x Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 Quad Core Processor LGA775 Kentsfield 2.66GHZ 1066FSB 8MB Retail Box (still dont know how to overclock so i chose this)
1 x Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R ATX LGA775 Conroe P35 DDR2 1PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 SATA RAID Sound GBLAN Motherboard (deos this allow CF/sli)
1 x Noctua NH-U12F S939 S940 AM2 LGA775 Heatsink Heatpipe Cooler W/ NF-S12 120MM Fan 8DBA
1 x Antec Nine Hundred Mid Tower Gamer Case 900 ATX 9 Drive Bay No PS Top USB2.0 1394 Audio (whats ps)
1 x Corsair CMPSU-620HX 620W ATX Triple 12V 50A 24PIN ATX Modular Power Supply 120MM Fan 2X PCI-E
1 x Samsung SH-S203B Black SATA DVD+RW 20X8X16 DVD-RW 20X6X16 DL 18X/12X INT DVD Writer OEM W/ Vista SW
1 x Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition 32BIT DVD OEM (whats oem)
1 x Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-FI Xtremegamer FATAL1TY Professional Series Sound Card 7.1 PCI Retail

k this was made in ncix pc configurer so if i buy it would they just send me all the parts to build or would they build it themselves. at the top it says 1 x PC ASSEMBLY AND TESTING (PRE-CONFIG OS IF PURCHASED) but i didnt choose ram or a G card so how will they do that?

for ram i will go
Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit
and Graphic Card
EVGA E-GEFORCE 8800GT Superclocked 650MHZ 512MB DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDTV Out DIRECTX10 Video Card (Superclocked?)

its for a little under 2000

build it yourself and save a lot of money.

And we already told you the q6700 is a waste of money. Overclocking is EXTREMELY easy and will save you LOADS of money
