I need facts about dual channel when it comes to RAM. What exactly does it do, and what is it used for? I just want to know because I am looking into it, I am getting a whole new 1GB of RAM, so I need some info. The only thing is I don't believe my MoBo can support it because it's an older 478, and it can support 1024MB RAM Max.

Dual channel (slightly) increases memory bandwidth and (slightly) decreases memory latency, as for "what it does" I think the name kinda hints that.

You need to check into seeing if your motherboard supports it. Dual Channel makes the memory run at slightly increased memory bandwidth as gaara said. You wont notice the difference between single and dual channel.
