Okay, I have an older XP machine that when I go to click on the C drive all I get is the dang search assistant instead of me seeing my files. The only way I can get to my files is if I right click the C drive and click on explore. Is there a way to turn the dang search companion off? I tried editing the registry, but to no avail.
Also, when I restart the computer, I get 3 search companion windows that open when windows first loads. Needles to say, I am sick of seeing that **** puppy at this point. Any help would be most appreciated.
By the way, this machine did have several bad viruses. I used combofix and malware bytes to take them off, and everything virus related seems to be in good shape.
