Why Must you run slow...

All my life i've been using a crappy 1.6 Ghz dell.

I finally got enough money to build a good gaming computer...
Here are Specs.

Processor: AMD Athalon 3200+
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon 9600xt
RAM: 512 Mb of RAM from Mwave
Motherboard: ASUS A7V600-X

I have 3 fans in case and one on cpu and on power supply

I would think that a pretty damn good gaming computer but when i play any game call of duty, halo, planet side, battle field, or even counter-strike it runs slow.

I have all the drivers and updates and Direct X 9.0 + hot fix

Please tell me why my computers running slow and tell me how to fix it.

The only thing I can think of would be your RAM. What is it's speed?

That is a good point, you want Kingston RAM.Get 2 512 chips, and ig your pc supports it, do some dual channeling. Friggin fast!

Also, in your graphic card control panel, set 3D tab in the center (between quality and performance) and check the game preference box. Make sure your Vsync is always off. Decrease your window to 1024 X 768. Don't set Antialiasing and anisotropic filtering too high 'cause these are real power hugger and will really slow things down.

What do you mean by slow? If you're running everything at thair top settings and expect to run as smooth my pick up lines, then your video card is getting in the way, not necessarily your ram. the 9600xt is a midrange card.
