get a good encoder card. use your video card to decode the video. ati card use avivo. nvidia uses the pure video decoder. both uses hardware (which show a better picture). hardware decoding is alway better than software

I use am ati 550 theater pro pci express card to capture.

osprey, opticast and quartet make the best encoder decoder cards if you want to go that route

He probably already has a hardware decoder, but when talking about TV tuner cards, IT doesnt beed a hardware decoder, because there are already really nice ones out there from nVidia anf ATi.

It does tv and radio and it works great. plus you can take it around to different comps becasue its usb. You can record tv and radio to the hdd as well as directly to a DVD. plus, its cheap
