What heapdhones under £500/$1000

If it turns out i can't afford my own hi-fi setup i shall be spending upto £500 on some headphones and plugging them into dads Pre/Power amp setup.

Anyone got any reccomendations ?

I was thinking Grado SR-325i or RS2. The comfort of them is a huge concern however.
Audio Technica ATH AD1000
Sennheiser HD 650

Im also tempted to go with some in-ear Shure SE530's.
Any help or advice welcome.

They sure do. They go up to about 3000Dollars.

Thing is, a £400 pair of headphones will sound as good if not better than a 2000 or 2500 hifi setup. Which is why im interested..
