Using stereo speakers on PC.

I have some Bose speakers hooked up to my comp through an external receiver/ amp. You can get a cheap one at your local audio store or something that will do fine. I would recommend that over just your mobo amp.
 
Not sure if this will help you or not, but I offer it anyway. I have some Logitech X-530 5.1 surround speakers and I wanted to listen to my TV through these PC speakers so I bought a Logitech game adapter. With this adapter I can still utilize the full 5.1 surround capability of my speakers. Was only $5 and it works like a charm.

It seems to be out of stock on the Logitech site, but I found it on ProVantage for $2.08.
