im getting a bit outdated on these **** viruses.
i used to be able to get rid of them without antivirus just by chasing down the files before they spread allover
but the PC is getting faster processing so its not that easy and viruses are getting a bit smarter.

although i did kill it manually yesterday i still feel as it my windows is a bit twisted.

no i wasnt browsing for porn lol
it downloaded from a site JDMuniverse when i clicked on a link in a forum
it got past comodo firewall
the AVG antivirus got shut down like a lil brat and still not working.
i never had or have any toolbars installed
and most of the time listening to the sounds my pc makes but i was busy reading something so didnt see that one sneak by.

i want to know if im not configuring my firewall properly or something.
or if theres a program that will show alert me if anything is being downloaded to my PC
and WHERE it is beeing downloaded?
i would like that better than antivirus or firewall.

that **** should be illegal in the first place.
a software company should be responsible for all the rogue spyware that is infecting peoples computers with their ****...

Viruses are illegal in most countries lol...

If you want to protect yourself better, use a hardware firewall, in combination with common sense. Watch what you click, and make sure you know what you're clicking on before you click it.

If you really want to be safe... Use a Linux distribution when downloading anything that you think is "seedy" and scan it with something like Clam while in *nix.

are there PCI network cards with hardware firewall?
ive been to the page before and it was ok(its a messageboard) i dont know how it got in to be honest. might have been the ads or it got hijacked.

so theres no monitoring software that will watch the ports to tell you if the actual file is beeing loaded up and where is it going?

i do watch it constantly and thats why i know mostly where to go when i download some crap but like i said lol i havent been keeping up to date on computer world in general so im getting a bit "lame". been workin on my project car mostly

Hardware firewalls go in-line, usually between your modem and router.

As far as monitoring software for that task... I don't know off hand. Can't say I've ever really researched what you're wanting to do.

Any good detection software will alert you when something is being downloaded. MBAM does this especially if it contains malicious content. Any good PC user knows where their stuff downloads to. I dont know why you need some program to tell you where the files go. YOU should be the one telling the browser and other tools WHERE to download your files. Even malicious ones if they make it through have to start where you download your files to.

You are asking for extreme overkill. Using a bazooka to kill a fly when common sense will take you much further. Dont click Links, on any site, unless you ask for them or research them via Google with WOT and other tools installed. Saves you so much more time than going through all this effort you are talking about. It is a simple copy/paste and check the WOT color. If no color shows or it is Red. Dont go there.

Forgot about WOT. It's a good add-on that I have on FF... need to put it on Chrome...
