Should i install the quake 4 beta patch?

Ok, i was looking around online and i see that quake 4 has a dual core beta patch available.

i have an x2 3800, and a 7800gt, but i was looking online and i saw that the drivers for the 7800gt conflict with the quake 4 patch. does anyone have this problem or can anyone advise me on what to do?
