ram problem?

I have a old hp desktop got a random bug to update it. Had a E3300 and 3gb of ram so i got on Ebay and ordered a e6500 and 4gb of ram(2x2). Ram came first put it in seem to of run fine with the E3300. CPU a few days later put it in and it wont post just getting beeps. i look them up says its a memory problem I put the old ram back in and it posts with the new CPU but not the new ram.

so old CPU new ram works fine

new CPU new ram wont work

There's no bios updates from HP on the motherboard and this point i dont know if the CPU or RAM are bad they seems to work separate of each other but not together

What is your motherboard model? And can you confirm exactly what type of ram you have, both old and new types?

after much digging around the net it seems i had picked the wrong used ram. tho why it worked with the e3300 i don't know.

the stock ram was 3gb, 1gb/2gb sticks 1rx8/2rx8
what i bought was two 2gb sticks both 1rx8 seems i need two 2rx8 sticks. tho yet again it worked fine with the e3300 just not the e6500.

the board is a h-ig41-uatx rev 1.0 stock ram is elpida 1rx8 pc3-10600u-9-10-A0 )( 2rx8 pc3-10600u-9-10-b0

what i bought was samsung 1rx8 pc3-10600u-9-10-a0

live and learn atleast it was dirt cheap on ebay even after this hicup im only out 17 bucks for upgrade
