A cousin of mine has a Hughes H7000s that provides internt connection, this modem is connected to a mta for a vonage phone and the mta is connected to a switch to distribute the internet through the LAN.

For some reason if i disconnect the mta, and directly connect the modem to the switch theres no internet, if i look at the ip adresses it something like this

ip. 192.168.1xx
subnet 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.99.1 -> this is the ip the mta has assigned

dns: innomedia.com

these settings wont change even with the mta disconnected, the Hughes modem has ip 192.168.0.1 but wont give internet if mta is disconnected.

how can i assign normal ip, dhcp services with the mta diconnected?

plz any comments will be greatly appreciated.
