Nforce2 optical audio out to CSW dtt3500

I have a Dtt3500 that was hooked to an Audigy in my old computer via the digital din cable and did 5.1 properly. I just moved to an SFF pc (an IDEQ from Biostar) and am trying to get the optical digital out on the back which is driven by the Nforce2 MCP to feed a signal to the DTT3500. At this point I get no sound no matter what I play on the PC. The regular line out feeds audio to my 2.1 rig fine and feeds audio to the line in on the DTT3500 (although with a high pitched whine in the background.)

I found an nvidia pdf that talks about how to configure there audio control panel for outputting the proper signal out over the digital out and did it and it looks right. I talked to Cambridge Soundworks Tech support (nice guys, friendly and responsive,) but they had no clue, should work.

Any help or ideas greatly appreciated.
