I'm building a new gaming rig with 8GB RAM (if I so choose to upgrade to Vista64)
If not, I'm going with 4GB on Vista32
I'd like to know application compatibility with Vista64 and Vista32
The applications I'm really concerned about are
iTunes
VLC Media Player,
Adobe CS3/CS4 (doesn't matter)
Firefox
Digsby IM Client
As well as games
Steam (CS:S, Half Life, Team Fortress, etc)
Crysis / Warhead / Wars
Battlefield 2 / 2142
And (yeah), Starcraft. I still play that on a daily basis, pretty much, lol
I've heard that compatibility with 32bit applications in 64bit Vista isn't all that great (I'd have to get 64bit drivers, but that's not too big of a deal, I'm sure the GTX 285 has them)
Would it be worth it to upgrade to a 64bit OS? I've never had the "joy" of using one, lol Thanks for any answers
Specs of build:
Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83Ghz stock
ASUS P5QL PRO
4-8 GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-1066
EVGA GeForce GTX285
1.5TB Seagate Barracuda
