Hey guys. Not sure what exactly to do here and was looking for some advice. I have a Dell Inspiron E1705/9400 laptop with a busted Nvidia 7900 GS Go GPU. It's got a 1.8Ghtz Core 2 Duo processor as well. I also have a Compaq dx2250 desktop laying around with an AMD Sempron processor and 2 GB of ram.
My preference would be to get the laptop working again, but in order to get a replacement 7900gs or equivelant, it costs a decent amount of money that I don't have. Ultimately I would like a computer equivelant or more powerful than my laptop and if I upgraded the desktop I could put a more powerful GPU than the 7900.
1. Would it be wiser to part out the laptop to buy parts to upgrade the desktop?
2. Can I use the processor from the laptop to replace the AMD Sempron processor in the desktop?
3. Can the desktop I have even BE upgraded? It's a base model computer (I upgraded the ram already to 2GB though)
Sorry if this is confusing. I'm just trying to figure out the best possible solution without having to spend alot (if any) money as possible. I just want a computer able to run games well, but doesn't have to be a crazy gaming rig.
Anyway thanks for the help. Once again sorry if this is confusing!
