One of our users is having a problem with there windows media player when they try to play video. Here are the steps i have done to correct the problem.

Switch monitors
switch video cards
uninstall/reinstall windows media player 10
download codecs from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/format/codecdownload.aspx

I know you guys hate it when people take picture of there screen with a camera but i tried print screen and it would just make the video are black so this was my only option

Does it still look like this under a different profile? Try an alternate profile on the machine. Have you updated the video card drivers?

WMP won't capture some videos in screenshots. What kind of video is this? If it's just a regular mpeg or such, you can open the file using Windows Movie Maker and use it to take screenshots. Since WMP-6, I haven't found a way to take screenshots from WMP. I've had to either use the Movie Maker, or another video application.

I tried logging in as a different user as well as installing quicktime. Neither worked. I currently am downloading ace mega codecs. It is taking 4 hours to download. it is 49.2 MB

today while running a program called windows media player diag tool i found in one of the read me files that it creates that there is an irq conflict between the video and the nic. i am going to try this next and see if that fixes it
