Long wait after mouse click

Why does my PC take 10-20 seconds after a right mouse click for the menu to appear, and also same for dialogue box to appear when delete key is pressed to delete a file???
I know it is getting old and may need replaced soon, but is there anyways to speed these up?

No there is no way to speed those things up. The only way to speed those things up is to not run so much stuff at the same time. You have a P4 system with less than a GB of RAM. Your not going to get an instant response. It will take your system a couple of seconds. If you want to reduce the time, close out your programs running. Just leave the Explorer window open.
