Some one PLEASE help me set up my cable internet on my Win2K machine! Aargh! I'm using a Motorola SB3100 cable modem and a generic NIC card. The NIC card is recognized under "Hardware Devices", but when I attempt to create a connection, all I get is a prompt for the number to dial out. Help!

If I am hearing you right, when you open Internet Exlporer you are receiveing a prompt to dial-up a number. If this is what is hapening then open Internet Explorer, cancel out of the dial up prompt and click on Tools at the top of the screen. Then click on Internet Options and then click the Connections tab. There you can select the bullet that says 'Never dial a connection'. And then you can click on Lan Settings on the bottom and make sure 'Automatically detect setting' is selected. Then click OK then Apply and finally OK. If I understood your question correctly this should take care of the problem. Enjoy you cable internet, I know I do, Eric.:)
