Download the Backdoor Agent cleanup utility from Symantec and follow the instructions on their page.

Next, Open a command prompt by:

1. Clicking "Start", then "Run...".
2. Enter "cmd" (without the quotes).
3. Enter "services.msc" (without the quotes).

Now, locate and 'stop' the following services, if present:

nbltlcxvilgkq owner ... (C:\WINDOWS\System32\cxvilgkq\nbltl.exe)

Look carefully, since the name of the service (above) can be anywhere in the entry; also be careful not to 'stop' any required system services.

Run HiJackThis then:

1. Click "Config..."
2. Click "Misc Tools"
3. Click "Open Process manager"

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\pqnfi\xdlds.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\pkgsjki\ulfk.exe

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

Before we begin, let's move HiJackThis to it's own folder; like c:\HJT. When we're done 'cleaning' off your system, we're going to 'flush' the temporary folders which, with HiJackThis in it's current location, we'll lose both the program and the backups it creates. These backups are important in case we need to restore any 'fixed' entry(s) later.

Also move the "Backups" folder, for HiJackThis, if present.

Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them from "Safe Mode".

Thanks for your help! FWIW I have updated and ran all of the following programs: Adaware SE, Spybot, ewido, microsoft antispyware program and Norton anti-virus 2005. Here is the latest: I ran the Backdoor Agent but it didn't find anything. I then tried to stop the entry you listed but it was not running. Then I set up HiJack as you stated and killed the following processes:
c:\WINDOWS\System32\pkgsjki
c:\WINDOWS\System32\GSMedia3.exe
these were the only two present.

I ran HiJack and deleted:
all of the listings that you listed

Finally I deleted all of the folders and files that you listed (I had all of these present except the last)

The computer seems to still have some stuff on it because I am still getting a few popups and get redirected to a few other website; however, it is a lot better than it was! Here is my latest Log:

Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:


F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\System32\userinit.exe,C:\WINDOWS\System32\svcpack.exe


Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\svcpack.exe

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them from "Safe Mode".

Actually, you got everything, this one was ok. This entry was newly introduced in version 1.98 of HijackThis. If nothing follows the ","-sign, you can consider it as safe.
