Help with anti-virus/spyware

Currently I run Spybot and Avast... do you think this is sufficient to prevent trojans, spyware, malware and viruses etc... I have a pretty solid Netgear wireless router in addition.

This is the one area of computer technology I'm not too keen on. There is so much crap out there I don't know what basic programs I need to keep my PC clean. What combo of programs do you guys run... I don't like anything by Norton or Symantec because they take up too much memory.

What do you guys suggest? Are those programs sufficient or should I download something else?

Your solid router doesnt mean a thing when it comes to these issues.

I recommend AVG as the antivirus
Malwarebytes for daily scans
Cleanup and CCleaner for temp files, reg cleaning, etc

Combofix for nasty infections that malwarebytes can remove
