Help! accidentally got google toolbar and can't get rid of it

Sorry, didn't know where to post this. The toolbar was downloaded when I downloaded something else, I don'tknow what. I installed a new hard drive so was reinstalling everything.
I use firefox. I have tried the normal way going through the control panel but it doesn't show up in teh list of programs. I also tried what google said i.e. click on the toolbar and go to help and then uninstall but there is no help button nor is there a wrench icon in the toolbar to click on. So, nothing normal works yet the toolbar is still there. I want it gone and don't know what to do. thanks for your help.

Click the Firefox Tools menu.
Select Add-ons.
Select Extensions at the top of the window.
Select Google Toolbar for Firefox.
Click Uninstall.
