so after 2 years of waiting for my contract with compuserve to be done. im getting dsl . i decided to get the 1.5-3.0mb packet. now i know im not going to download at those speeds but im wondering what my download speeds would be with this. can i download stuff at around 50kb/s? or higher?i know with 56k i download at 5.4kb/s. Thx for your replies

With most ADSL services, as long as you're getting at least 80% of the advertised speed, then it's fine.

There are many factors that can affect your speed such as phone line quality, distance to a CO or RT, and ISP overhead.

Remember that the speed you're getting is in the range of 1.5-3.0 Mbps (180k-384k/sec. data transfer rates), so your speed may vary, in other words, it's very unlikely that you'll get the full 3.0 Mbps.
