Ive been using my Sony Vaio laptop to connect to my uni halls internet connection by ethernet cable (and keysurf login) for months with no problems, now all of a sudden my ethernet cable is not being recognised. its not a problem with my connection or cable as other people's laptops work on it. and its not a problem with my hardware as my laptop works in other people's rooms. its just the combination of my laptop and my connection.
my friend did something along the lines of resetting the IP address, but not really sure what he did.
so i've done a full recovery of my computer, and this hasn't helped! don't know what else to try!
please please help, i've been internet-less for a couple of weeks and i'm ging a bit nuts.
oh and im not the most techy person in the world, so please keep it simple.
