cpu usage question

I'm running an smp client on a dual xeon setup, and finally got it running a3 units a little while ago.

The problem is it uses 100% cpu resources. I tried changing the requested cpu usage to 75%, 50%, even 20%, but it still uses about 90% on average.
What's going on? And how do I stop it using so much of the processors?

i would try using something like process lasso to set affinity. that's what i use for priority/affinity on my second rig

okay, add -smp 4
The 4 will set it to only 4 cores... or it should anyway, thus 50% of the total cpu.

edit: yay, that worked I was hoping for a total of about 75%, but 50 will work I guess. I'll take a look at process lasso as well I reckon. thanks!

Okay, try like -smp 6 or 7. That number can be changed
