audio flipping

it keeps switching between 7.1 and headphones, all by itself. this means i get mutes all the time, and it is VERY annoying when i am listening to music.

it has only been happening since i installed and used vmware, however it still does it when none of the vmware processes are running.

what is VMware? It sounds as though this is changing your configurations when it is used/not used.

it is a program the runs virtual machines, ie so you can have linux boot up in a window inside windows. but it still does it all the time when it is not running.

i tried reinstalling the drivers, and it seems to be OK for now...
