Can I be the newbie and ask a few ????'s
Stepping?? what does this mean.
How can you tell if a CPU is unlocked?
Can you overclock any cpu? whether or not it is locked or unlocked?
I am wondering cause i am looking on ebay and don't want to get screwed!!!

vin - i've heard of people doing a "wire trick", this linkl shows one method. I have also seen a very small wire placed in the CPU socket to make the jumper to unlock a CPU.

I thought that the wire trick didnt work on the newly locked cpu's.
You have to play around with a shiny silver pen filling in bridges dont you?

that wire trick looks scary... ive been trained in Surface mount and mil spec soldering (although i never was a good at it lol) and even i wouldnt try to do something like that... its not worth wasting your 100+ dollar investment on.
