Re: Small form factor case reccomendations.

It got a little toasty under load, but nothing too bad. Should be interesting to see what temps are with a good cooler.

Re: Small form factor case reccomendations.

Got everything but the case in so I assembled it and put it on an open bench with my 2500K stock cooler. Looks like I'm stable at 5.1GHz and memory at 3200MHz. Gonna run more stress tests once I...

Re: Small form factor case reccomendations.

Re: Small form factor case reccomendations.

Just got an update from Amazon and it's coming this Thursday, the same day as the case.

Is it at all possible to install Windows 8.1 on Coffee Lake? I have an extra 8.1 license and I'm thinking I...

Re: Small form factor case reccomendations.

Yeah, I'm really disappointing with that.

Apparently people were able to order 8700K's from NewEgg yesterday and they shipped out too.

Re: Small form factor case reccomendations.

Ordered everything yesterday. I ended up going regular ATX with a mid tower because the cases were still like half the weight of my 932. Still nothing on my 8700K preorder from Amazon. Apparently...

Re: Small form factor case reccomendations.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about RAM speeds anymore.

I know the 970 will be my primary bottleneck, but I do plan on getting the next gen nVidia/AMD cards because they'll be a more significant...

Re: Small form factor case reccomendations.

Money isn't the issue, I've just heard that RAM speed matters more now than it did 6 years ago.

Re: Small form factor case reccomendations.

I think I'm gonna go with the carbide 240.

So right now I'm thinking:

CPU: Intel Core i7 8700K
Mobo: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-G
RAM: ???
Cooler: Corsair H100i
Case: Corsair Carbide 240.

Re: Small form factor case reccomendations.

No delivery estimate on the 8700K, and the R7 1700x is down to $300. Thinking about going Ryzen as well.

Small form factor case reccomendations.

I'm sick of my massive HAF932 and am looking to go either uATX or ITX for my next build. My 2500K is also getting pretty old and I think running it at 4.5GHz for the past 5 or so years has taken its...

Re: i5 7600K or R5 1600 for streaming?

He doesn't have enough money for a 1070 right now and needs a new HDD, SSD, and is set on getting a new CPU/MoBo/RAM. All he has in his system for storage right now is a dying 1TB drive so a SSD...

Re: i5 7600K or R5 1600 for streaming?

Alright, he'll probably just order the 7600K today instead of waiting for a 1600 and AM4 MoBo.

EDIT: Maybe wait until Vega to get a new video card or the GTX 11** series.

i5 7600K or R5 1600 for streaming?

I have a friend who currently has an i5 2400 and is looking to upgrade his rig. Back in February I helped him price out parts and at the time we chose a 7600K, but that was before the release of...

Re: Halo 2 vs 3 vs 4 vs 5 ? Whats YOUR Favorite

Hard to say, they all have their strengths and weaknesses.

- Halo: CE had an amazing campaign, and the multiplayer was good but no online and the pistol was super overpowered.
- Halo 2 had...

Re: Mini-ITX conversion

Thanks for the help, that's what I was worried about. It may be better for him to sell his stuff and get a 7700K with a newer ITX board that also has M.2.

Mini-ITX conversion

Hello,

My friend is looking to ditch his HAF932 for something smaller. He's considering just getting a mid-tower, but I showed him the Fractal Design Node 202 and he really likes the idea of an...

Re: AMD Ryzen

It seems like the biggest drawback to Ryzen is that it's basically like 2 quad core CPUs and the infinity fabric's lower bandwidth between them is holding them back. Apparently the infinity fabric's...

Re: AMD Ryzen

So far Ryzen is looking pretty good. $330 for a CPU about equal to a $1,000 one from Intel is pretty awesome. Sadly it doesn't look like it'll be too much better than my i5 2500K @ 4.5GHz in gaming...

Re: These smart TVs were apparently spying on their owners

Must be 50" then.

The only apps we have on SmartHub are Youtube, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, and the Playstation one so I don't think so. I didn't do any further investigating once limiting the upload...

Re: AMD Ryzen

No, but I would like a MoBo with an M.2 slot on it so I can downsize my case easier. Also thinking about turning my 2500K into an ESXi host so I can set up a virtual lab.

Re: AMD Ryzen

Really thinking about replacing my 2500K with a 1700x.

Might look into a smaller mATX case and ditch this giant HAF932 while I'm at it.
