So does it go through the post codes and then give FF with nothing on the screen, or does it go straight to FF? FF usually means everything is fine unless it goes straight to FF or 88 with nothing...

It'll reach heat soak almost immediately so 5-10 minutes to see where it stabilizes.

Worry less about idle temps and more about full load temps. Download Cinebench or use AIDA64 for a stress test to see what load temps are then go from there. If they're under 75c sustained you're...

I don't personally condone consumer routers anymore, but for ease of use I'll go with one. I also don't like Nighthawk routers in the least, so I'd say the Asus. Personally I'd shell the extra 30ish...
