sounds to me like the notebook is overheating. Have you tried to disassemble down to the heat exchange and fan,,, or blow some compressed air in the oposit direction through the exhaust port.

it sounds like a virus or more. Usually my rule is if it dosen't start in safe mode it is usually better time spent trying to recover data to do a wipe and reload.

come on, how easy is it to connect to a router with a cat5. If you can not go to the router, take the router to a desktop or notebook along with a short cat5 cable, configure and take back.

I had the same trouble. what I ended up doing is going to ebay and buying a 1watt outdoor transmitter...was $109....works great. You have to make your own cables or buy them, like the LMR400...
