Question Dead R9 270......sort of?

Hello everyone.

A while ago, my girlfriend and I watched as her R9 270 died mid-game; and after thoroughly cleaning/testing it, I'm a little confused as to whether or not it is actually dead. As...

Re: Forgotten PW for Laptop

If you didn't have a password, anyone could get into your system as opposed to that one in however many that is actually savvy enough to know how. There will always be that one person who can pick a...

Re: computer turns on and off and on again

Doesn't matter if it turns on and the fan is spinning; if it's defective and not putting out enough power because of that, your PC isn't going to turn on properly. Hell, no PC it's hooked up to will...

Re: computer turns on and off and on again

The best way to test components is to have others on-hand that you know work. That's why I always have extra hardware even if I'm not immediately using it. I bought a motherboard back in June and...

Re: computer turns on and off and on again

1. Are you absolutely positive you've connected everything properly? (i.e. GPU power cables?)

2. Is there any output on the screen when the PC is on? Or is the screen blank?

3. Have you tried...

Re: GPU Very Loud

Can't be louder than my reference 290. Uninstall/reinstall the drivers and see if anything changes. And do a proper reboot after reinstallation to make sure the settings are being detected properly...

Re: Potentially the longest thread in history...

Leaving things unlocked is unheard of where I live. I'd say one is probably more likely to be a victim of petty theft out here more than anything else; but everyone I know locks everything that has a...

Re: Small Cluster Computer Project

Sounds like a fun project. I almost tried something like this years ago, but I ended up scrapping everything pretty quickly because I realized there really isn't much practical use for cluster...

Interesting; I'll remember that when I start messing with my X6. Thanks.

Re: Pushing the Limits

Oh, well. For a general PC/personal server I suppose I could do much worse. I don't suppose tweaking the NB can improve OC stability?

Re: Pushing the Limits

3.5GHz, but it wasn't completely stable. Above that; I could not even get into the OS.

Thumbs up Pushing the Limits

Hello everyone.

I am looking to push an X3 720 I bought some time ago a little further than the 3.4GHz I have it running at. Studying information on this chip and overclocking in general; I have...

Re: What is wrong with women when dating???

This......kind of feels more like a discussion to have with your buddies; rather than a public post for a tech-related website. Just one man's opinion though.

Re: Bad Card?

A good point. I'll look into RMAing it, but if I'm stuck with it......it's not the end of the world. I'll just get a different card and throw that one in an expendable rig. Something old but still...

Re: Bad Card?

Well I would RMA it, but I bought it last October. Still gonna pull it out of my PC to be safe, though.

Re: Issue with gathering more knowledge

Exactly what Carnage said. I can relate; my High School wanted nothing to do with computer-related courses (short of the BS typing course) and in my town there's no opportunity for...

Re: Bad Card?

Eh, I have. Twice. I usually do a bi-annual re-installation on all my machines because by then I've either replaced/added/removed something important.

Question Bad Card?

Hello everyone.

A while ago I threw a R7 260X in my PC. But ever since I got it (and I bought it brand new), the HDMI has never worked; and drivers for the HDMI never install. Not to mention no...
