Advice on buying 2nd hand turntables

I'm looking for a turntable. I've googled around, but not really found any advice on picking them up second hand. I have a preamp with a turntable input, so I just need the turntable itself. Anyone...

Re: anybody made there own CPU cooler ?

Well... all heatsinks are "passive" really? Active heatsinks would use power to move the heat, say, by using a peltier device.

Re: I am DONE with Ballistix...

Well, just office/winamp/firefox/pdf reader sort of things? Doesn't take very long. I generally install alot of things over the next 3 weeks or so as and when I need them.

Re: I am DONE with Ballistix...

Takes me ~30 mins to get vista to a useable desktop, then a further ~30 mins to get drives and main apps on, and then I just install the odd app here and there when I need them.

Re: Turning CPU on w/out Heatsink?

Depends on the CPU I guess. I'd imagine it'd be fine for a little bit under low load situations, with cool-running CPUs. Just don't try it with no heatsink at all. ;)

CPUs are alot more durable...

Re: I am DONE with Ballistix...

If memtest passes they are likely fine.

What is causing the BSODs?

Re: I am DONE with Ballistix...

It'd show up in memtests I mean.

And I've no idea how that "fix" works either, but definatly not all memory is made the same. There are different ways of soldering the ICs to the PCB etc. Maybe...

Re: I am DONE with Ballistix...

The certain limited issue being dead micron D9 ram, which the ballistix IS.

If the ram is unstable, and so capable of messing your data up, you'd see system instability anyway and know that there...

Re: I am DONE with Ballistix...

I said it's not going to cause corruption WITHOUT BEING UNSTABLE. Do you even read more than the first few words of posts?

ie, you'd know the ram was bad. It won't be quietly annhilating your data...

Re: I am DONE with Ballistix...

Well I did say 50% to begin with.

I just think it is far better to try this, and maybe get working ram even if only for a while, then to just chuck them away.

Re: anybody made there own CPU cooler ?

Just strap a massive block of copper to it. Maybe cut a fin or two into it while you are at it.

Re: I am DONE with Ballistix...

Actually, you can. I've seen threads where a good many people had their broken D9 ram working again after 24 hours in the freezer.

EDIT: Attention Dead Micron D9 Owners - XtremeSystems Forums...

Re: Sennheiser HD800 !

Indeed, especially with the amount of dubstep/dnb I listen to. A huge upgrade over my old 595's in that regard.

Re: Netbook Performance Questions

If you're using it as a main PC, I'd get something with a bigger screen.

I have a Toshiba NB-100, that I just take into uni with me, to use when I am working in the library etc. It's got an Atom...

Re: Sennheiser HD800 !

They do look interesting... not quite sure why they've gone for the crazy space-ship looks, but there we are.

I'll be sticking with my D2K's for a while yet. :D

Re: Intel xeon x3220 compatible with core 2 quad boards?

If you can find an X3210 or X3220 cheaper than a Q66 then yea, go for it.

They aren't advertised as specifically G0 like the Q66s are though, so you might be better off getting a guaranteed G0...

Re: overclocking dell p3 laptop

Dell motherboards rarely use standard ICs. You won't find a clockgen supporting it.

It is unlikely to work these days, but you could always throw caution to the wind and switch the quartz for one...
