My friend experienced much the same thing once, and even though the storm fried only his modem, their insurance company replaced teh whole computer. Bring this up with your insurance people. Good luck.

Also, a quick google search for "LG 8120b drivers" promptly gave me several sites with drivers for that particular cd-drive.

You can also try tooling around in safe mode, but don't believe me if you think otherwise, as this is just a guess.
