    I'm guessing that your PC isn't on long enough to install a program to monitor temperature levels. You said it was either a CPU or a heating issue... Maybe your CPU is overheating. You could try applying fresh thermal paste and reinstalling the CPU fan. Also, doesn't Alienware have pretty good...

    Yeah, you basically do pretty much the same thing as when you install windows the first time on a clean hard drive. Usually you press delete as the computer is loading up to go into Bios.

    Aaah, the msconfig disabling worked. I've now uninstalled it and installed zonealarm. The problems left with kerio. Another thing came up though- after installing zonealarm, avast! came up with a message saying that a feature had to be disabled because of a compatability issue with zonealarm...

    Well, I've just tried uninstalling in safe mode but no luck; it came up with the message 'Windows Installer could not be accessed. This can happen if you are running windows in safe mode'.... :'( :S
