I work at a video game store and I recently acquired two XBOXs, which were going to be thrown away because they didn't work. A co-worker told me one's DVD drive doesn't open, and the other just won't read discs. I figured I could take them for modding projects, but need some help troubleshooting...

I tried searching this forum but to no avail. For some reason, instead of giving me 404 errors, or just going to "Page Cannot Be Displayed," this blased Internet Explorer is searching with IncrediFind. It's very annoying because after I close the window, I get a popup that my firewall is not...

Well, apparently the guy did have to do some Windows customization for the repair/install, but not sure the depth he went into with it. I do know that he called and needed my Microsoft product key, for whatever reason, I don't know. I guess I'll be taking the massive Chieftec server tower back...

I replaced the motherboard in my PC not too long ago because the resistors in my Epox exploded. I replaced it with an Asus. Anyway...everything seems to be working basically alright. Seems like the new motherboard is having some sort of problems with my hardware, though...possibly my NIC...

I'm almost positive I have a 430 watt PS, which I thought should be enough. I had to take the newbie way out and send my computer to a shop. They should be calling me soon today and let me know what's wrong with it. Not bad for $65, eh? =/ We'll see if what you guys say is right. XD

I posted not too long ago about needing better cooling, not sure if you guys remember. Well, I was reccomended some Vantec "Tornados" and a Thermalright heatsink. So, I placed my NewEgg.com order, and yesterday I got the parts. I'm installing the new heatsink first, and everything went fine...

That's all I needed to know. I think I'm going to shoot for two Vantec Tornados as two of my primary fans (added to the Antec), as well as one of the 92MM Tornados, sitting on top of the Thermalright SLK900A heat sink. That will all be backed by the Vantec Nexus fan controller. Thanks for all...

Wow. I'm running pretty hot, I think! According to the Motherboard Monitor, my case is at 98ºF and my CPU is at about 120ºF. That seems prety hot to me. Do I qualify for needing more cooling?

I could probably afford that heat sink if it's going to be that much better. I'm sure the price is reflective of the quality (not always true, though). So you reccomend that heat sink with a 120MM Tornado? Yeah, when I get some high-speed fans (my next order), I'll definitely get one of those...

The only burning program I really use is Windows Media Player, since it's convenient for me. I have briefly used both Roxio and Nero, but am not all that savvy on their features. I might give MyDVD a try to be able to make some VCDs. Although I've heard that only some DVD players will play...
