okay, okay I remebered the admin pswd, what luck. I tried the fixmbr cmd fromthe recovery console and walla nothing. I rebooted to the login screen again finding a nice bitmap and no place to login. a tech friend of mine mentioned a repair install. Is this the first option on the recovery cd...

yeah it still requires the admin pswd to even use the recovery console, which seems wierd but I guess thats how it goes sometimes.

oh and yeah I have a boot time av scanner. I was thinking it might be a virus also but the night before everything apeared clean. thx
