Okay took to a computer store and we tried a diffrent power supply and we tride a diffrent cpu fan and nothing. The guy said he may think its the board and im starting to agree with him.Sigh thats $165USD gone. Is there a way to test the chip w/o putting in another machine?

You may like to configure the settings as follows:
- Launch Creative Speaker Settings
- Check the ?Synchronize with Control Panel?
- Click on the OK button
- Launch the Surround Mixer
- Set the Mic In to mute
- Close the Surround Mixer...
no i just get a terrible reverb that builds up and i have to turn off the speakers or go deaf. I sent off an email to Creative about it ill post a copy of what they say.

Thanks MLR for the info it helped not to deafen me with the reverb, but the underlying problem is still there..For some reason the mic is always on instead of only coming on when a program requires it. I use Cool Edit pro for some classes and for the radio station i work at so i need to work...
Still no effect..I muted Line-in, MIDI and CD Audio and the mic is still on. Ive resorted to just unplugging it , but that is a rather bad solution since i bought this sound card for my mic.
