    Gaming on Linux

I don't really agree with saying that 'wine rarely works with games'. You can still play a LOT of games on Linux via wine. It might just take more finagling, like using winetricks. Check out the winedb page for the game, a lot of them have howtos to get the particular game running, and likely...

[Ubuntu] help automounting drives with fstab

More precisely, that second entry in each row of the fstab is the 'mount point'. It is the folder on your file system that you want the partition mounted to. The folder where you can then go to access the files on the partition.

    Ubuntu Question

Grub 2 is a lot different than Grub legacy. and weird. I've only had one experience with it which I didn't like so I can't really tell you much, other than to suggest reading a grub 2 tutorial. Like GRUB 2 bootloader - Full tutorial Marc

    Going old-school with Ubuntu 10.10?

I would suggest against Ubuntu for what you are wanting to do. Its going to install a bunch of stuff you are not looking for because it is focused on nice friendly easy GUIs and point and click and automated processes to be easy to use, and all that. I get the feeling you're just picking it...

    Missing files issue

Make sure you always 'safely remove device' before you turn off/unplug your external HD. I've seen file go poof when this is not done.

    Booting Linux from exFAT drive

I believe that exfat is only bootable from very specific BIOSs. In any case it is more geared towards Windows so its not so much suitable for putting a Linux distro on. Marc

    Help on Installing asterisk 1.8

Hmm, I installed it onto my computer. The binary is in /usr/sbin, which means it can only be run as root. Looks like its just some background server thing. You can read the man page with 'man asterisk'. Looks like by running 'asterisk -c' you get a CLI (command line interface) for the program...

    Help on Installing asterisk 1.8

I don't know anything about the program, so not really. If you mean you do not know how to run the program, I would start by running 'asterisk' from the terminal. Installed program binaries are kept in /usr/bin, so you could search in there for the right binary to run.

    Help on Installing asterisk 1.8

Heh, you haven't installed the program yet, you just configured the makefile for your system (which also checked all the dependencies and stuff). Now run 'make' then assuming that is successful run 'make install' Marc

    Help on Installing asterisk 1.8

Man I'm really not paying attention to details tonight :(. You need to libxml2 development package, so thats 'apt-get install libxml2-dev' or maybe 'apt-get install libxml2-devel' not sure the exact package name, you can use 'apt-cache search package' to search for any package name. Marc

    Asus Eee PC WiFi problem

Yeah I really did not like that 'simple mode' with my eee. You can change it to a regular desktop. I forget exactly how. I think this is the right instructions (though I didn't read through them all. Or this. You didn't say which model eee you have (not sure if it matters) but mine (701) came...
