Honestly I would spend the extra money and buy a 6870 instead of a 6850 Graphics card... It'd be worth it in the end and its not that much more. Get some 1600Mhz RAM as well. The G-skill 8GB (2x4GB) package is on sale and is only $110.00.
That's very true. It could save you around $50-60, so get the 4GB set (2x2GB) if you don't think you'll need it. But... quite honestly having 8GB over 4GB made a difference in my performance, but that was because I was maxing Crysis out at 1200x1920 res. 4GB wouldn't do it, so yeah.
I'm honestly not exactly sure what you're saying, but that graphics card and that processor get an A+ in my book. I would put those in a build without any question if you're trying to stay within that budget of yours. Just out of curiosity do you need a monitor or Operating System?
Make sure your motherboard isn't screwed down to tightly and that it isn't touching the metal on the case (just like Slaymate said^). Just loosen every screw on your motherboard and tighten it until you just barely feel some resistance. I have literally seen this happen three times, so it's very...
Re: I need to lower the price on this build.
You can also get a better PSU for cheaper... such as- COOLER MASTER GX Series 750W
As far as cases go, I would suggest this to shave off a few dollars- COOLER MASTER HAF 912
And I would downgrade the GPU to this- XFX Radeon HD 5770
That should...
This is what I'm thinking would be your cup of tea-
CPU: Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz (Quad-core)
CPU Heatsink: CORSAIR CAFA70 120mm Dual-Fan CPU Cooler
GPU: XFX Radeon HD 6870 Black Edition
Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth X58
RAM: G.SKILL PI Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3...
Just to let you know if you're going to be doing any video editing it helps to have an actual graphics card and not use the integrated graphics on your motherboard, because they are pretty much completely useless for anything. I'm not sure what you're budget is but I would suggest just buying an...
So this is my first Intel build and I honestly know nothing of Intel processors and Motherboards, so you guys tell me if these parts seem to work well together. I've done a lot of research, but I'm still sketchy on some stuff. Here's a list of the parts... just give me your opinions and advice...
