IMO a software firewall and an antivirus suite is the minimum. And yeah,as Alvin.C said,being port scanned is pretty common.

You could use one of them to build a file server with 3-4 hard disks where you can store all your music/video/etc files.

Check the graphics card first of all.Have you connected the system speaker?Do you get any "beep" sounds?

Could you post what model your ext hdd is so we can get an idea of what kind of power cable it has?

Have you checked your CPU's temperature?Sometimes it's an overheating problem.

You can cut the molex connectors from each fan,join the cables and attach a molex connector on the end of the cable.In other case each fan will require its own connections to the power supply.

You can try to do it by saving and image of your old hard drives,using Norton Ghost or some similar software,and then restore the images to the new hard drive.Although I recommend you perform a fresh install of Windows on the new hard drive.

Well that is not exactly a problem.Rapidshare and Megaupload have some limits if you are not a premium user(you must pay to become premium).
