You don't have to have cabling across you're floors. If you already have another router, I would spend 20 minutes trying to get a working setup of DDWRT. It's a free router firmware that allows for repeating. You could save a lot of money- I would give it a shot.

I am using the micro version, and the size listed should fit on it. The DDWRT page for the specific netgear model says "initial flash by TFTP", so I would assume that's the only way to do it.

I still have the issue. The router has 2MB flash and the firmware is 1.6mb, so I don't think size is an issue. I can ping the router but the TFTP client still says that it is unable to get responses from the server.

I managed to remove the array and format both of the hard drives in the raid utility. To what is formatted it I am not sure, but I'm guessing thats not the problem. Windows still doesn't recognize the hard drive even though the array is gone and the drives are wiped.
