ya, it's not there. I think the thing is so old, they never thought of booting from anything other than a floppy. I'm trying to see if there's a BIOS upgrade for it, but so far haven't found anything. Thanks for the input!! :D

I have an old bios on this P2 computer that I want to run a live CD on. But it wont boot from CD, and there's no settings in the bios. I dont have an OS loaded on it now, and I've just downloaded TweakBIOS 1.53b but I dont see anything that would let me change that. The BIOS I have on it now...

I just built this PC about 2 weeks ago... it was going great, booting up fast etc, then yesterday it started hanging. When I boot up, I see the black mobo welcome screen and it sits there for a while, about 1 min, then finds the drives. Then I get a black screen for a bit, about 1 min, then...

I've never built a computer before, this came recommended to me from someone else, and I took his advice not knowing there would be difference. Lack of research on my part I guess. I suppose I shouldn't ask why a PCI Express type board is bad?

It turns out that the hard drive was defective. I called WD and i'm getting an RMA from newegg. I still think there's a problem with the floppy drive though, it churns, but I cant boot from it... even with my other hd's. I'm not sure what the problem is.

I think I've tried everything, but my new SATA hard drive isn't being recognized. Hardware specs are in the sig below I've tried both the orange (nvidia) and red (SLII?), but I cant seem to get the drivers off the cd properly... i keep getting errors when trying to load them. I've downloaded...

I got it. There's a small pin that slips out of the pin with the prongs on the end of them (dont know how else to describe it) but the little pin can be pushed from the underside of the mobo and then the mount comes right off.

So I got all my hardware today and started working on installing it. This is my first try at putting anything like this together, so you can understand why I'm a little nervous. I have the Zalman 7700 fan, and the Gigabyte mobo... (see signature for details). The mobo has the fan mount built...

I'm just using it for the OS's and programs basically, I'm going to run Debian and Windows on it along with Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop etc. I'll load some games onto it too, but I'm not a heavy gamer so there will only be 3 or 4 at one time. I just like a nice computer to work on that's fast...

So, my order is about to go through and I'm wondering if I've made the right choice. I've ordered the Western Digital 7200rpm 250gig hard drive with a 16 mb cache, but for a littleless, I can get a 40gig Western Digital 10,000rpm drive with an 8mb cache. I have 3 other hard drives to use for...
