My PC froze while I was playing Battlefield 2. After I reset during the initial boot there are rows of white dots across the screen these rows go all the way down the screen. The white writing of the bios is on top of them. Then during the windows loading screen there are columns of blue lines...
I purchased a new motherboard and after looking through the Manuel discovered that if double sided memory is used in both the DIMM slots the maximum speed is reduced from DDR 400 to DDR 333. I use a pair of 512 DDR 400 sticks that are double sided. If I use this motherboard with my memory and...
IÂ’m in need of a new hard drive and have noticed that there are no ata-133 drives from Seagate or WD at my usual online retailer. After checking the seagate website it seems that they dont make a 133 drive. Why is this? And should I get another brand with a 133 interface for better performance...
Are you installing Xp on these drives, or just adding them to your system? If you are installing xp then if I remember correctly you have to disconnect any IDE drives before hand and possibly load sata/raid drivers when the windows setup is loading (pressing F6 when prompted). To create the Raid...
Yep. I havnt a clue whats wrong with it, as im fully updated and virus free. I read something about searching for other instances of "wmplayer.exe" and deleting them but im not sure if there should be other wmplayer.exe's other than in programme files.
I have just reinstalled windows xp and have found that when I play some music with windows media player after a minute or so the player starts to use loads of cpu (98) and the memory use keeps growing (98,000 KB +) (I looked in task manager to see this). I have virus / spyware scanned by system...
I’m looking for an LCD monitor that is suitable for gaming use, mainly BF2. This is the first LCD I will be getting and I’m not sure exactly what to look for. It needs to be 17" and around £200.
The below monitor is one I am interested in. Is this suitable and can anyone recommend others...
IÂ’ve done my I.T. Essentials 1 pc hardware and software. I think itÂ’s the equivalent of the A+ but does it have the same credibility? Should I think about doing the A+ exam?
My pc does boot, but I always get 2 beeps after post, its an AMI bios so 2 beeps is a memory error. I also get the occasional blue screen. Ill try each module separately. I suspect that the mobo is dodgy though.
Ive been getting 2 beeps on boot up after the POST, which is a memory error. So ive run memtest86, done three full passes with not a single error. Can the 2 beep error be caused by a motherboard fault or can it only be a RAM problem?
I think im going to go with the Leadtek WinFast A400TDH GeForce 6800 GT 256MB. Im also buying another 512 stick of cosair value select pc3200 to make a gig of RAM. So will this setup beable to run battlefield 2 at medium/high settings? Are there any bottlenecks? (see sig for spes)
Theres just one question I need answering, how much affect will video memory have on performance?, esspecially BF2. Im considering the leadtek 6800GT 256 now, as im thinking the extra memory (as well as better VPU etc) will make a big difference
OK, so its the Leadtek WinFast GeForce 6600 GT 128MB DDR3 £130 or Asus V9999GT/TD GeForce 6800 GT 128MB £147. Even though the asus "is NOT a 6800GT popular to belief", is it going to have more performance than the leadtek?
OK. I carnt realy afford a 6800gt, this asus was on offer. I read a review that the asus is based on the 6600 pcb or something like that. Well it seems like a dodgy card. So ill probably go for a 6600gt. Two questions, XFX or leadtek, i hear XFX is OC'ed out of the box? and 128 or 256 memory...
