A novice thinking of upgrading his PC

I bought another power supply, but over the weekend I've noticed I've been getting random BSODs. I haven't changed ANYTHING beyond updating the GPU drivers, and it randomly happens. The messages are all random, too: one involves the NTFS table, and another involved the USB drivers...but after...

So wait..I actually don't need a new power supply for the setup I have now? All I wanted to boost was the GPU at present. If my power can handle my current stuff without risking any particular damage, I think I'm good for now.

Oh gosh. Is it hard to set up all of the new wires? Like, does it come with detailed instructions?

About the power supply, it comes with cables, right? Could I use my old cables on the new supply? I assume even with the one I have, I'm putting all of this stuff at risk with use? Would getting a new one help with the heat issue I'm noticing? Should I get one that's stronger, or are the ones...

    Ah, okay. I got it now. +3.3V: 24A +5V: 32A +12V1: 21A +12V2: 22A -12V: 0.6A +5Vsb: 2A How's that? Does that work well for me?

I think I copied everything that was on the side of the box, though. Is there a program to check what it outputs on my computer? I downloaded Speedfan and all of my settings seem to be checked as good except for the third fan, which is at 79 C. Looking into it with HWMonitor, the reason that's...

Well, what's going to happen then? If that doesn't cover a 580, what does the entail? Crashes and overheating? I don't know how to actually verify if they're my 12v rails.

Probably won't handle a 580? How am I to test if it can? I know when I was running Witcher 2 on max (minus Ubersampling) it ran at 60 fps, but the fans got pretty loud and the back case got pretty hot. It's been pretty hot this week (it was 70 degrees today with notable humidity) so I'm unsure...

I did update. Could be my HDD, but I'm not sure. The game I'm testing is ArmA II, a game some say actually gets a better framerate on a SSD. Do I have to uninstall the old one card? It doesn't seem to show up after switching to the new card..

I was able to get to a local shop to get what I needed, which were a few cables. The card works now, and runs at better performance than the older one. It just seems loading sometimes is still slow, but that's the CPU, no? I suppose I need to either deal with that, overclock, or upgrade? It's...

Okay, I was able to open it up, so here are the stats of it. AC IN 115V/230V 10.7A/6.2A 60/60 Hz DC OUT +3.3 V +5V +12V1/+12V2/-12V2 + 5VSB Max peak is at 700 The power supply seems to have a 4-prong cable, with the others being used. I believe this is a problem as my GPU came in today, and...

Thanks for the reply! I'll try and do that over the weekend. Now, about overclocking..how do I do that and what risks does it entail?

A novice thinking of upgrading his PC

Hey dere, first post! I hope this isn't the wrong place to ask, but lately I've been feeling like I want to upgrade my PC for gaming. I can run most games just fine, but that's the thing: most. Games like The Witcher 2 and ArmA II have issues running when I want to run them at beefier settings...
