I think that the general rule of thumb is; if you're not going to use the computer for several hours, turn it off. Otherwise, if you're just stepping away for a while, just put it in sleep mode.
I'll look into his PSU model's reviews and see how good it is. I'm not too worried because he's used it for a while and it still works fine. I trust him, but if it ends up costing the same to just buy a newer one then I will.
Sorry, I must have messed up somewhere. My computer now thinks it's a label machine. Pieces of paper keep shooting out of the print screen button with bits of my desktop on it.
